What is VOIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is the ability to make voice/fax calls using a computer network and over a data network such as the internet. It converts voice into a digital signal that is transmitted over the internet and then converts it back into voice at the other end. This then enables the call to be routed to another VoIP destination or to a standard analogue or ISDN line.

VoIP can offer significant cost savings to organizations with more than one operational site and to any company who utilize home or remote workers. It can utilize existing broadband bandwidth which reduces the need for traditional land line rental costs and calls between IP phones are free of charge.
